Major Blu

Major Blu, or Blu as he’s known to his mates, is a 4-year-old standardbred gelding who had one start on the track but just wasn’t quick enough.

The classic no-fuss type, Blu’s a gentleman to handle, always up for a cuddle and a scratch and easy to catch (even showing glimpses of the speed missing from his racing career if you’re holding a bucket of goodies!)

Blu’s great for the farrier, travels well, floats like a dream and stands quietly. Whilst Blu hasn’t been started under saddle as yet, he’s a thinker and loves having a job to do, before getting back to his favourite hobby… rolling in the mud!

 

Usually last in the pecking order, Blu will often step back and leave his food if a more dominant horse comes over. He’s fine in a herd, but might actually enjoy a paddock to himself where he can eat in peace. Either way, Blu’s not a troublemaker and fits in easily. No separation anxiety either; just a chilled dude who goes with the flow and chooses the low-drama life!

Blu is the kind of horse who will be a little timid at times, but in a sensible, non-reactive way. He stops to assess things and doesn’t get flustered or silly. Ultimately, Blu gains confidence from the strong bond and trust he builds with his humans and will make a very clever and rewarding partner.

Blu would suit someone looking for a gentle young horse with a good brain who’s ready for new adventures. A beautiful blank canvas, Blu will thrive with a kind and experienced person who can teach him all the wonderful things that come with life beyond the track.
