Night School ‘Tommy’

Tommy is the kind of horse that makes life easy.

Stabled in a busy training complex with the hustle and bustle of daily operations, traffic noise and constant movement, Tommy takes everything in stride and is a gentleman to handle.

At the races, Tommy strolls through the stalls with a confident, relaxed swagger and happily follows people around like a loyal ‘puppy dog’. He’s just one of those special horses who is easy to handle and a joy to have around.

Tommy’s racing career has come to a close because his caring connections have put his well-being first. A year ago, a small hairline fracture was found during extensive radiography (an injury so minute it did not show up on x-ray – it was picked up on scintigraphy, as no effort nor expense has been spared in caring for this beautiful boy).

Tommy was given full rehabilitation and returned to race work, proving himself sound for training and all his routine jog work. However, in the last stages of his most recent racing preparations, he started slowing in the final stretch. There’s been no heat, swelling to soft tissue, nor other concerns, just a clear sign that pushing him any further wouldn’t be fair. His thoughtful trainer has chosen to retire him now rather than risk a more serious issue down the road.

This decision opens up a fantastic opportunity for Tommy to find a new home where he can shine in a different way. Sound for pleasure riding, trails and potentially low-level riding club activities, Tommy is ready for a more relaxed lifestyle.

With his handsome looks and natural presence, Tommy could even step into the show ring and turn heads. He’s got the ‘bling’ and the personality to match, as a kind, easy-going and sensible partner who’s always a pleasure to be around.

As Tommy has only recently been retired from racing and is unbroken to saddle, he will require an experienced person to guide him through his retraining. However, Tommy has the makings of a true ‘best mate’ and this is the perfect opportunity to get in early and snap up a quality horse who is as kind as he is handsome!
