HRV Hero is proud to announce the continuation of a valuable partnership, which supports the transition of standardbreds into their new lives beyond the track.
The partnership was established in 2022 by The NRG Team Founder Boyce Deverell, who had a soft spot for the breed after purchasing a standardbred for his wife when he first moved to Australia.
In early 2024, Maddy and Frank Marchese purchased The NRG Team from Boyce, with a commitment to continuing the brand’s proud legacy of being an Australian owned and run company, with strong community ties.
“When we took over the reins of NRG from Boyce in February, we knew we had big shoes to fill in the equine community”, Maddy and Frank explained.
“The NRG Team has been a valuable support for many associations, clubs and societies, and we wanted to carry on Boyces’ legacy—especially in our commitment to supporting Hero.
“Retired standardbreds make fantastic all-round horses. Thanks to their racing background, they’re often sensible and forgiving, passing on a unique confidence to their riders—perfect for beginners or those who might be a bit nervous!
“We’ve seen many retired race standies excel at events across Victoria, and it’s always a thrill to witness their achievements.
“We’re passionate about Hero’s mission to give these wonderful horses a chance to enjoy a new lifestyle. Hero’s ongoing support provided to the horses as they transition into their new families is something we will continue to enjoy helping”.
Since The NRG Team-Hero Partnership was established, dozens of welcome packs of Australian made feeding and grooming products have warmly received by new Hero owners.
This is additional to the immense support extended by The NRG team to many other life after racing initiatives and organisations.
“For over ten years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with the Standardbred Pleasure and Performance Association of Victoria, donating NRG products to support their events”, explains long-time NRG Team member, Jodie Rouget.
“A few years back, we reached out to Tara at Hero, seeing it as an ideal opportunity to introduce NRG’s feeding, grooming and health range to new standardbred owners.
“It’s been wonderful to be part of this journey and to hear the incredible stories of how standardbreds have brought joy to so many families.
“I always look forward to the updates from Hero on their successful rehoming efforts and want to extend a heartfelt congratulations to the team for all they’ve achieved.”
HRV Hero’s Operations Manager, Tara van der Minne, expressed much gratitude to The NRG Team on behalf of the standardbred community.
“Not only do NRG produce fantastic equine health and care products, but they have been a tremendous support to the equestrian community over many, many years”, Tara reflects.
“Hero appreciates The NRG Team’s generosity and willingness to support standardbreds and our mission to promote these horses into caring homes in their lives beyond the track”.
Following on from a successful collaboration at the 2022 Equitana Melbourne, this year will see The NRG Team once again join the Together for the Standardbred crew (including representatives from HRV Hero, Raising the Standards and the Standardbred Pleasure and Performance Horse Association of Victoria) to promote the many abilities of the standardbred to the crowd at Equitana.
Guests attending Equitana can visit the HRV Hero stall #352 in the Off The Track Pavilion and scan the NRG Team QR code to go in the running to win an amazing product pack valued at over $300.
