Harness Racing Victoria’s Hero Program supports a network of retrainers with the skills and experience to help retired harness racehorses transition to new careers as pleasure or performance horses.

Hero program horses are submitted to a pre-screening check and assessed for their suitability to the program before being accepted. They are then allocated and placed with a Hero Recognised Retrainer with the appropriate expertise for tailored retraining to make the most of each horse’s natural ability in preparation for find their new home. Retrainers use their skill and knowledge of the horse to match to a suitable owner.
